Do I need my own racket to start playing padel?
No. Clubs provide rackets — in Antalya, V7 Padel includes racket and ball loan with court hire when needed. Play your first sessions with club rackets, notice what feels comfortable, then buy. Buying before your first game is the most common beginner mistake.
How is a padel racket different from a tennis racket?
A padel racket is solid (no strings), perforated with holes, shorter, and hit closer to the hand — which gives more control and less power. Rackets come in three shapes: round (control, forgiving, best for beginners), teardrop (balanced) and diamond (power, for advanced players who hit the sweet spot consistently).
Which padel racket should a beginner buy?
A round-shaped racket, medium weight (355-370 g for men, 340-360 g for women as a rough range), with a soft or medium foam core. Control and comfort beat power at every beginner and intermediate level. Spend moderately on your first racket — your technique will change fast and so will your preferences.
Are padel balls the same as tennis balls?
They look identical but are not: padel balls have slightly lower internal pressure, so they bounce a little less — which keeps rallies playable on a small court with walls. Playing padel with tennis balls makes the game faster and harder to control; use proper padel balls.
How long does a padel racket last?
For a regular club player, one to three seasons. Rackets die from cracks (often from hitting the glass or the ground) and from foam fatigue — the ball stops springing off the face. Store the racket away from a hot car in summer: heat degrades the foam faster than play does.
Where can I buy padel gear in Türkiye?
Large sports retailers and online marketplaces carry padel gear across Türkiye, and dedicated clubs run pro shops — V7 Padel Antalya has one on site, where you can also test rackets in open games before choosing. Trying before buying is the whole advantage of buying at a club.
